What Sangam is
VedicSense Sangam is a private circle of VedicSense members looking for a marriage alliance, for themselves or for a member of their family. It is matrimonial, not dating. These terms add to the Terms of Use, which still apply; where the two differ on Sangam, these terms govern.
Who may join
- You must be 18 or over, and the person the profile is for must be of the legal age of marriage in India (21 for a man, 18 for a woman).
- You may make a profile for yourself, or for a son, daughter, brother, sister or other relative who knows about it and agrees to it.
- One profile per account. The details you give must be true and kept up to date.
Matrimonial purpose only
Use Sangam only to look for a marriage alliance. It may not be used for dating, friendship, business, marketing, recruiting, collecting other members' details, or anything unlawful.
No dowry and no money
Asking for, offering or agreeing to give dowry is an offence in India under the Dowry Prohibition Act 1961, and section 4A of that Act forbids advertising an offer of money, property or a share in a business in return for a marriage. On Sangam no member may ask another for dowry, gifts, money or any financial demand, or offer them. VedicSense never charges a member for an introduction through another member, and never asks for money through one. Never pay anyone you met here; report anyone who asks.
No impersonation
Do not pretend to be someone else, make a profile for someone who has not agreed to it, use another person's photograph or identity, or misstate age, marital status or anything else about the person the profile is for.
Verification and what other members see
A profile is shown to other members only after we have verified it (today by checking a phone number and an identity document), and only verified members see suggestions. A hidden answer is still used to meet other members' preferences, and is never shown to them. Verification checks who a member is; it is not an assurance about their character, their intentions or anything they say, and you should make your own enquiries before any decision.
- Without a plan, a member sees up to 10 suggestions a day, each as a card: initials, age, city, the guna total with them and a blurred photo. Never the name, a clear photo or an answer.
- With a plan, a member opens up to the plan's number of full profiles a day (Parichay 10, Rishta 20, Vivah 50): the name, the photos, every answer the member has not hidden, the chart facts and what they are looking for. Each profile counts once a day, however often it is opened again that day; the count starts again at midnight, India time.
Plans
Making a profile and the daily cards are free. A plan is paid once, in rupees with GST included, through our payment partner on the website, and lasts 90 days from when it starts. A plan bought while another runs starts when that one ends. Nothing renews by itself. A plan is for one account and cannot be passed on. The VedicSense apps do not sell plans.
The founding launch
For a founding launch, one plan may be offered free, as the Sangam page says, together with the launch's last day. Any member may claim it once per account, without a payment method. A claimed plan runs from the day it is claimed until the end of the launch's last day, India time, and then ends by itself: nothing is charged and nothing renews. The price shown struck through is the plan's regular price. After the last day nothing more can be claimed. A claim may be made in the VedicSense apps too; it is not a purchase.
Interest and contact details
A member with a plan, including a plan claimed in a founding launch, may say they are interested in a member whose full profile they may see. The member is told, by email and on the app where notifications are allowed, at most once a day, and may open the full profile of each member interested in them and answer, without a plan: Interested back, or Not now. Contact details (the mobile number on the account, or its email if there is no number) are shown to both members only when both have said they are interested. A Not now is never shown to the member who sent the interest, and an interest that is not answered, or is declined, ends after 30 days. Each pair of members has one interest, once: it cannot be sent again.
- A plan sends a set number of interests a day (Parichay 5, Rishta 10, Vivah 20); answering never counts.
- At most 20 interests sent may wait for an answer at once.
- An interest goes only to a member in your suggestions or whose full profile you opened, where both sides' preferences fit and, for a woman, her choice of who may see her allows it, and never to a member blocked either way.
- There are no messages between members on Sangam, so there is nothing to send but an interest.
- A member reported by 3 or more different members is paused at once until our team has looked at the reports.
These limits exist to keep Sangam free of spam. Use contact details only to talk about a marriage alliance: never pass them on, publish them, or use them for anything else.
Photos and what you write
A profile may have up to five photos. Each must be a real, recent photo of the person the profile is for, and the main photo must show their face, alone. No photo or text on the profile may carry a phone number, an email address, a social media handle or a link: contact details are shared only through Sangam. Each photo is checked automatically and then looked at by a member of our staff before anyone else sees it. We may refuse or remove a photo or text that breaks these terms, and we tell you why.
Community, caste and gotra are optional. They never change the guna reading, and you decide who sees each of them.
Suggestions and the reading
Suggestions use the same 36-point Ashtakoota reading as Kundli Milan, with the cancellations the tradition recognises shown. A dosha never removes a member from your suggestions; it can lower their place. The reading is a classification under the rules of Jyotish, not a forecast, and no suggestion is an assurance of anything. The Disclaimer applies to it in full.
Reports and blocking
You can report a member, or block them, at any time from their card or full profile. A report names a reason (a fake profile, a request for money or dowry, harassment, someone already married, or something else in your own words) and goes to our team, who may ask both sides for details and may pause the profile; the member is not told who reported them. A blocked member is never suggested to you again, you are never suggested to them, and neither of you can open the other's profile, until you unblock them from your Sangam page. Write to the grievance officer for anything urgent, including a request for money or dowry, harassment, or a profile made without the person's agreement.
Records we keep
As the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology's advisory of 2016 for matrimonial sites asks, we keep the IP address a profile was made from for one year after the profile is deleted, and then erase it. The Privacy Policy says what else Sangam keeps and for how long.
Our staff can view a member's full profile, photos and the details shared for Sangam, to verify members, screen photos, handle reports and keep Sangam safe. Every view is recorded, and staff do not share what they see.
Suspension and removal
We may pause or remove a profile, or end an account's use of Sangam, if it breaks these terms or the law, if its details turn out to be untrue, or to protect other members. Where we can, we tell you why and give you a chance to answer; in a serious case we may act first. You may pause your profile or leave Sangam at any time from your Sangam page; leaving erases the profile at once.
Liability
Sangam, with or without a plan, is provided as it is. A plan opens profiles and lets a member send interests; it does not promise a match, a reply or a marriage. We are not a party to any conversation, meeting or agreement between members and are not responsible for what a member says or does, to the extent Indian law allows. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have under the Consumer Protection Act 2019 or any other law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India. The courts at New Delhi have jurisdiction, subject to any right you have to bring a complaint where you live.
