What you get

Why VedicSense

An API built from the same engine and the same rules as the site, with nothing hidden about how a number was reached.

  • Accuracy, with the working

Planetary positions to the arc-second, checked against observatory ephemerides before each release. Answers carry the steps: the koota rule, the dosha reference, the numerology reduction.

  • Interpretation included

Readings for each planet and house, koota meanings, and what the tradition prescribes where a match loses points, attributed to the texts.

  • Hindi built in

Planets, signs, nakshatras and timings carry their Devanagari names beside the English, and the panchang answers fully in Hindi.

  • Limits you can see

Every answer carries the minute ceiling and your quota left in its headers, and the console charts your use by day and endpoint.

  • Priced in rupees

Plans in INR for Indian teams, with a GST invoice for each payment once billing opens. Start on the free credits, with no card.

  • No birth data kept

The details in a call compute that answer and nothing else. They are not stored, not kept with your key and never used for training.

How to start

Make your first call in three steps

  1. Create a free account

Sign up with your email or Google and confirm the address. It takes a minute and asks for no card.

  2. Make a key

Open the developer console and create a key. It is shown once, so keep it on your server.

  3. Call the API

Send the key as a bearer token. Your first 100 calls are free.

FAQ

Questions about the API

Credits, limits, settings and billing, answered.

Every endpoint, parameter and error code, with examples.

Read the API docs
Is there a free Vedic astrology API?

Yes. Every VedicSense account gets 100 free API calls to try the kundli, panchang, matching, muhurat and numerology endpoints, at up to 10 calls a minute. The credits are given once, not every month, and no payment card is asked for. When they are used up, you choose a paid plan in the developer console to keep calling.

What counts as one API call?

One request made with your key counts as one call, whichever endpoint it reaches, from a kundli to a place search. A kundli with every section is still one call. The places and panchang endpoints can also be called without a key, within a per-address limit, and those calls are not counted against your plan.

What are the API rate limits on each plan?

Each plan has a ceiling of calls a minute, shared by all the keys of an account: 10 on Free, 30 on 25K, 60 on 50K, 120 on 100K, 300 on 200K and 600 on 500K. Every answer carries X-RateLimit headers, and a call over the ceiling gets a 429 with Retry-After, the seconds to wait before trying again.

Which ayanamsha and node does the API use?

The API is sidereal with the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsha and whole-sign houses, the same settings as every chart on the site, with the Bhava Chalit house of each planet given beside it. Rahu and Ketu are the mean nodes by default; send node TRUE in a kundli request for the true nodes.

Does the API return Hindi names?

Yes. Planets, signs, nakshatras, tithis and the panchang timings come with their Hindi names in Devanagari beside the English ones, in fields such as name_hi and sign_hi. The panchang endpoint takes lang=hi for Hindi names throughout. The reading text, where a section includes one, is in English.

Does VedicSense store the birth details sent to the API?

No. The birth details in a call are used to compute that answer and nothing else: they are not written to a database, not kept with your key and not used to train anything. The usage record keeps the endpoint called, the status and the time of each call, never the body or the query string.

What uptime does the VedicSense API offer?

The 200K and 500K plans come with a 99.9% monthly uptime target. A target is what we plan and staff for, not a guarantee, and it carries no service credit unless one is agreed in writing. Version 1 stays stable: a change that would break a working client goes into a new version, announced at least 90 days ahead.

How do I change or upgrade my API plan?

Open the Plan page of your developer console and press Request this plan beside the one you want. There is no payment on the site yet, so the request reaches our team and we write to you at your account's email to set it up. The new plan then applies to every key on your account.

Do I need to credit VedicSense on the free plan?

Yes. On the free plan, show the words Calculations by VedicSense where your product shows results from the API, linked to vedicsense.in where your product can show a link. The paid plans do not need the credit. The full rules are in the API terms, which every key is made under.

Are the API prices inclusive of GST?

No. The prices on this page are in Indian rupees a month, exclusive of GST, which is added at the rate in force. Billing is in INR, and a GST invoice is issued for each payment once billing opens on the site; until then our team sets up a requested plan with you directly.
