What these terms cover
These terms apply to every API key made at vedicsense.in/developers and to every call made to the VedicSense API (the addresses under /api/v1) with one. They add to the Terms of Use, which still apply; where the two differ on the use of the API, these terms govern. By making a key you accept them on behalf of yourself and of the business you build with it.
Your licence
While your key is live and you keep to these terms, Vyora Online LLP gives you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to call the API and to use, show and store the results inside your own product or service, for the people who use it. The API, the engine behind it and the way results are put together remain ours.
What you may not do
- Extract results in bulk: calling the API systematically to build a table, dataset or archive of planetary positions, panchang, muhurat or other results for their own sake.
- Resell, sublicense or redistribute raw results, or offer them as a data feed or an API of your own. Results shown to your users inside your product are fine.
- Share a key outside your organisation, publish it in an app or a web page where others can read it, or use several keys or accounts to get past a limit.
- Create more than one account to obtain free credits again: it is not allowed, and can lead to a permanent ban of every account involved.
- Use the API to work out, copy or rebuild how the engine computes its results.
- Use the API for anything unlawful, or in a way that harms the service or other customers.
Attribution on the free plan
On the free plan, show the words “Calculations by VedicSense” where your product shows results from the API, linked to vedicsense.in where your product can show a link. The paid plans do not need it.
Claims your product makes
The results are classifications under the rules of Jyotish, the Indian astrological tradition. They are not a forecast, a diagnosis or advice. If you resell or present them, you may not claim, or let your product claim, that a result, a remedy or anything built on the API diagnoses, cures, prevents or treats any disease or health condition, or that it guarantees any outcome. This follows the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisements) Act 1954 and the Consumer Protection Act 2019. What your product says to its users is your responsibility, and it should carry a disclaimer at least as clear as ours.
Birth details and the people they belong to
A call carries the birth details your user gave you. We use them to compute the answer to that call and nothing else. The API keeps no birth data beyond the request: the details in a call are not written to a database, not kept with your key, and not used to build a profile or to train anything. Our usage record keeps the address of the endpoint called, the response status and the time taken, never the body of a call or its query string, and the API's error log names the kind of error, never what was sent. Like every web server, ours also keeps a technical log of each request, as the Privacy Policy describes, for no more than 30 days; the birth details of a call travel in its body, which is not logged.
We offer no storage of request data today. If we add one, it will be off unless you switch it on for your key, and these terms will say what it keeps and for how long before it is offered.
You are responsible to the people whose details you send: tell them their details are sent to us to compute the result, have a lawful basis under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023 for doing so, and send no more than a calculation needs (a name, for example, is optional and only echoed back).
What we keep about your keys
A key is shown once, when it is made, and we keep only a one-way hash of it, with the label you give it, its plan, when it was made and last used, and for each day the number of calls it made to each endpoint with their units and errors. You can see this use on the developers page, and revoke a key there at any time; a revoked key stops working at once. How the account itself is handled is in the Privacy Policy.
Rate limits and quotas
A plan belongs to the account, and the account's keys share it: its limit of calls a minute, and its free credits or its quota of units a month. Every call that gets past the minute limit costs one unit, even one refused for a field out of range; a heavier call, such as a batch of matches or a drawn chart or PDF when they are offered, costs five.
The free plan gives each person 100 free credits (units) once, when their account makes its first key. They are not renewed: when they are used up, calls are refused with quota_exceeded until you choose a paid plan. Free credits are given once per person, not once per account or per key, and we may refuse or withdraw them where an account appears to belong to someone who already had them.
On a paid plan, the month is the calendar month in India time (IST), and the quota renews on its first day; unused units do not carry over.
- Free: 10 calls a minute and 100 units in all, once.
- 25K: 30 calls a minute and 25,000 units a month.
- 50K: 60 calls a minute and 50,000 units a month.
- 100K: 120 calls a minute and 100,000 units a month.
- 200K: 300 calls a minute and 200,000 units a month.
- 500K: 600 calls a minute and 500,000 units a month.
Every answer carries X-RateLimit-Limit, X-RateLimit-Remaining and X-RateLimit-Reset for the minute, and X-Quota-Limit and X-Quota-Remaining for the month. A call over either is refused with status 429, the code rate_limited or quota_exceeded, and a Retry-After header. A call that is refused still counts towards the minute, so a client that retries at once is refused again.
Plans and prices
The Free plan costs nothing. The price of each paid plan is in the plan table on vedicsense.in/developers, a month, exclusive of GST, which is added at the rate in force. The 200K and 500K plans come with a 99.9% monthly uptime target; a target is what we plan and staff for, not a guarantee, and carries no service credit unless we agree one in writing.
At launch the paid plans are offered at a lower launch offer price, shown beside the regular price, until the end date the table shows (31 January 2027 at launch). After that date the regular price applies. The regular prices are the prices we will charge once the offer ends.
There is no payment on the site yet: to move to a paid plan, choose Request this plan in the developer console or write to [email protected], and we write to you to set it up. We give at least 30 days' notice by email before a price or a limit of your plan changes.
Availability and changes to the API
The API is provided as it is and as available. We work to keep version 1 stable: we may add endpoints and fields, but a change that would break a working client goes into a new version, announced at least 90 days before version 1 changes or ends. The reference at vedicsense.in/docs/api is the description of what each endpoint does.
Suspension and ending
We may slow, suspend or revoke a key, or close access for an account, if it breaks these terms, if its traffic puts the service or other customers at risk, or if a paid plan is not paid. Where we can, we write to the account's email first and give you a chance to fix the problem; for abuse or a risk to the service we may act first and write after. You may stop using the API and revoke your keys at any time.
Liability
To the fullest extent Indian law allows, Vyora Online LLP is not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, lost profit or lost data arising from the API, and its total liability for any claim about the API is limited to the fees you paid for it in the three months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under the law of India.
Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute is subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts having jurisdiction over the registered office of Vyora Online LLP in New Delhi. For anything about the API, a plan or these terms, write to [email protected].
