01What is lucky name numerology?
Lucky name numerology gives your name a number and reads it against the numbers of your date of birth. Each letter takes a value, the values are added, and the total is reduced to one digit from 1 to 9. That digit is then compared with your mulank (the birth day reduced) and your bhagyank (the whole date reduced). A name whose number is ruled by a graha friendly to the grahas of those two numbers is what the tradition calls a lucky name. Each piece has a different origin. The letter values are Chaldean, a Western esoteric table named for Babylon. The number-to-graha mapping is Indian, from ank jyotish. Reading a personal name against a birth date this way is a modern practice; no classical Jyotish text does it.
02How does name correction numerology work?
Name correction numerology starts where the reading ends. If the name number is contrary or neutral to your mulank and bhagyank, a numerologist looks for a spelling that sounds the same, or nearly, and totals to a number the tradition prefers. The usual moves are small: a doubled letter (Amit to Ammit), an added h (Amit to Amith), a changed vowel (Sunita to Suneeta), or initials for a middle name. This calculator tries exactly those edits, never more than two at once, keeps the first letter of every word, and ranks what it finds by score and then by how little changed. There is no evidence that a respelled name changes anything in a life; the method reports the tradition's preference and stops there.
03How do I use the lucky name numerology calculator by date of birth?
Type the name exactly as you write it day to day, with the surname if you use it, and enter your date of birth. The calculator shows every letter with its Chaldean value, the word totals, the compound and each reduction step. It then works out your mulank and bhagyank with their working and reads the name number against both, giving the reason for each verdict. Last, it lists the numbers that read as friendly to both of your numbers and, if your name is not already one of them, up to eight close spellings that are. The birth date lucky name numerology calculator needs only the date: no birth time and no place.
04What is the name correction numerology chart?
The chart is the Chaldean letter table, and it is short enough to learn. A, I, J, Q and Y are 1; B, K and R are 2; C, G, L and S are 3; D, M and T are 4; E, H, N and X are 5; U, V and W are 6; O and Z are 7; F and P are 8. No letter carries 9, which is the quickest way to tell these lucky name numerology alphabets from the Pythagorean ones, where letters run 1 to 9 in alphabetical blocks. Because the values follow sound rather than alphabetical order, two spellings of one name can land on different numbers, and that is the whole mechanism name correction relies on. The full chart is printed further down this page.
05Which name number is lucky for my date of birth?
The tradition answers this with the graha friendship table, not with a single favourite digit. For a mulank 5 and bhagyank 5, say, the numbers read as friendly to both are 1, 4, 5, 6 and 8, because Mercury's friends and Mercury itself rule them. For some dates no digit is friendly to both, and the best the table offers is friendly to one and neutral to the other; the calculator says so rather than forcing a match. That is the tradition's preference, stated plainly. Nothing shows that a name totalling one of those numbers leads to a different life from one that does not, and this page makes no such claim.
06Should the name number match the mulank or the bhagyank?
Both comparisons are made, and the tradition does not settle which one wins. The mulank comes from the day of birth alone and is usually read as the day-to-day self; the bhagyank comes from the whole date and is read as the longer course. Some numerologists weight the first, some the second. This calculator scores each comparison the same way (2 for friendly or the same number, 1 for neutral, 0 for contrary) and adds them, so a name scores 0 to 4 and the arithmetic can be checked. Friendship is read from the natural relations of the ruling grahas, the table Graha Maitri uses in kundali matching.
07Does lucky name numerology come from Vedic astrology?
Only partly, and the part that is Vedic is not the naming. Classical Jyotish names a child by namakaran: the first syllable is taken from the pada of the nakshatra the Moon occupied at birth, which our baby names by nakshatra page works out. Adding up letter values is a different practice. The values are Chaldean, which is Western; the mapping of digits to grahas is Indian ank jyotish; and respelling a name to change its total is a twentieth-century habit of popular numerology. Read it as a modern application built from older pieces.
