01How does a baby name numerology calculator work?
It adds up each name and compares the total with the baby's own numbers. Every letter takes its Chaldean value (1 to 8, by sound), the values are added, and the total is reduced to a single digit. The baby's mulank is the birth day reduced; the bhagyank is the whole date reduced. Each digit belongs to a graha in ank jyotish, and the natural friendship of those grahas decides whether the name reads as friendly, neutral or contrary to each number. A name scores 2 for friendly or the same number, 1 for neutral and 0 for contrary, twice over, so 0 to 4. The names are ranked by that score and every sum is printed.
02How do I check baby name numerology by date of birth?
Enter the date of birth and the names you are weighing, one per line or separated by commas. Type each name as it will be spelled on paper, since a different spelling is a different total. The calculator returns the baby's mulank and bhagyank with their working, the digits the tradition reads as friendly to both, and then each name: its letters and values, the reduction, the reading against each number and its rank. A baby name numerology check needs no birth time and no place; the numbers come from the date alone. Nothing is stored once the page has rendered.
03Should a baby's name follow numerology or the nakshatra?
The classical Hindu practice is the nakshatra. At namakaran the first syllable of the name is taken from the pada of the nakshatra the Moon occupied at birth, and our baby names by nakshatra tool works those syllables out from the birth date, time and place. Numerology is a later layer. Many families use both: they pick names that begin with the nakshatra syllable, then compare those names here. If the two disagree, the nakshatra syllable is the one with a textual source; the name number is a modern application of Chaldean letter values and the Indian number-to-graha table.
04Is numerology used for Hindu baby names?
Widely today, but not in the texts. Hindu baby name numerology as it is practised now combines three things of different origins: the Chaldean letter values, a Western esoteric table named for Babylon; the Indian mapping of the digits 1 to 9 to the nine grahas; and the Jyotish friendship table that says which grahas agree. The grihya sutras that describe namakaran say a good deal about a name's sound, its syllable count and its nakshatra, and nothing about letter totals. So the number is a modern check laid over an old ceremony, and this calculator labels it that way.
05Which name number suits a new born baby?
The tradition's answer depends on the date, not on the name. For a baby with mulank 1 and bhagyank 1, the digits read as friendly to both are 1, 2, 3, 5 and 9; for mulank 2 and bhagyank 6 no digit is friendly to both, and the best on offer is friendly to one and neutral to the other. The calculator lists these for the date you enter. For new born baby name numerology that is the whole of what the method says: which totals it prefers. Nothing shows that a child whose name totals one of them fares differently, and this page makes no such claim.
06Can baby name numerology be checked before the birth?
Only once the date is known, because both of the baby's numbers come from it. With a planned delivery date you can run the names against that date and again against the days either side, and see how much the ranking moves; the mulank changes every day and the bhagyank with it. The nakshatra syllable needs the exact birth time as well, so it cannot be settled in advance either. Names can be shortlisted before the birth, then checked on the day, which is how most families end up using a tool like this.
