Rohini Vrat is the monthly vrat of the Jain tradition kept on the day Rohini nakshatra is current at sunrise, about every twenty-seven days, twelve or thirteen times a year. It is kept above all by women, for the family's harmony, and its worship is of Vasupujya, the twelfth Tirthankara.
Each Rohini Vrat is the day Rohini nakshatra is current at sunrise. When Rohini lasts less than a ghati, twenty-four minutes, past that sunrise, the vrat is kept on the day before, when Rohini began.
The vrat begins at sunrise on the Rohini day and lasts until Rohini ends, often into the next day. Devotees worship Vasupujya at the temple or at home, read the vrat katha, and give charity, and many keep the vrat for three, five or seven years together, closing it with an udyapan.
